Canon A1000is

The CANON A1000IS is the predecessor of the very successful digital camera the CANON A1100IS. This version from CANON has better and smart features than the other cameras in the range. The CANON A1000IS is available mainly in four different colors that are Grey, Blue, Green and Pink. These are two-toned color which gives the camera a very nice look.

The camera is very user friendly. The Canon A1000IS comes with a 12 megapixel sensor with a DIGIC 4 image processor with iSAPS technology. The CANON A1000IS Specifications are that focal length of the lens is 6.4m to 24. It comes with 4x Digital Zoom with and 4x optical zoom which makes the overall zoom 16x. The ISO sensitivity of the camera is AUTO, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600. The clicking speed of the A1000IS is a bit slow. The lag between two clicks is 2.4 sec.

On the top of the camera are the on and off buttons along with the capture button and a Zoom ring. There are other buttons placed on the back of the camera. There is a separate set of buttons for editing options and a separate one for playback option which is a similar feature in the A1100IS.

The CANON AS1100 IS sports different shooting modes like Auto*, P, Easy*, Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Indoor, Kids & Pets, Movie, Special Scene (Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Night Scene, Aquarium, ISO 3200¹, Long Shutter)
with Scene Detection Technology and Motion Detection Technology. The supports SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus, HC MMCplus memory cards and also has a video recording till 1 hour. The memory card supplied with the camera is only a 256MB memory card so you need to buy a new memory card having a greater capacity. The Maximum size is 16GB. The CANON IS1000IS stores images in JPEG format and videos in AVI format. The CANON AS1100IS has a self timer with 2-10 seconds delay of shutter release. The other CANON AS1000IS features are red-eye reduction, my colors which include Off, Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, Black & White and Custom Color.

The CANON A1000IS also features the face detection technique along with tracking. There is an LCD as well as an optical viewfinder in this camera. The LCD screen is a 2.5" TFT, approx. 115,000 dots which gives good results on the screen. There are different flash modes that are Auto, Manual and On. The Normal Flash range is 30cm – 4.0m.

The battery available with the CANON A1000IS will last for 160 shots or 360 min playback. In the end the CANON A1000IS is a good camera and a good option for the beginners. The camera is pretty good compared to the other ones in its class and the price is also affordable.
