For most first timers, there is a nervousness when clicking
photographers with the new digital cameras. There are a number of
question that wander in and out of the mind, as to whether one will be
capable of capturing the picture perfectly, or will it be a blurred, out
of focus picture. One spends several minutes trying to focus and get the
hand steady before finally capturing the image.
Well, to overcome all anxieties here are some tips that one should keep
in mind when stepping into the world of digital photographs:
• When you plunge into digital photography overcome all inhibitions, as
you are not the first to walk to down this road. There are many more
photographers and all have learnt by trial and error, so feel free to
learn from all your photographing errors.
• First ensure that you get the right kind of camera, by seeking proper
expert advice before buying one.
• First know why you want the camera. Is it to email pictures or to make
prints of all you capture, and that too what size of prints.
• Make a list of all that you need a camera and accordingly shortlist
those that you have liked on all counts. You should be sure about the
type of camera you require.
• Ideally, you should use a high-resolution file format for saving the
images on a computer.
• However, to fit in more images on the camera’s memory you should save
them as at a low resolution. But then do this if you do not want to
print the photographs, otherwise they should be saved in high resolution
in JPEG or TIFF setting.
• Keep extra batteries with you at all times.
• Since digital cameras need extra power ensure that the batteries are
charged completely, and that one also has a backup in store.
• Keep enough of memory cards
• Remember to switch off the camera before you remove the memory card.
• Be aware of the camera’s shutter lag time to get the perfect shot.
• In order to get fast action pictures, you need to use the ‘continuous
mode’.
• Follow the digital photography workflow:
o Click a picture/s
o Transfer the picture/s onto a computer
o Edit the picture/s
o Print/share the picture/s
• Maintain copies of the original pictures before editing any of them.
• Maintain a backup of all the images.
