Kodak P850

The Kodak has launched a new series of cameras called “Performance”. The KODAK P850 is a camera that has been launched in this series. There are two cameras launched in the same series. The other is The KODAK P880. The P880 is better than P850.

The KODAK P850 is a super zoom camera that has an advanced zoom with image stabilization feature. This is the main feature attracting people towards the camera. The KODAK P850 has a 36-432mm 12x optical Schneider KREUZNACH VARIOGON zoom lens. The Image stabilization feature works awesome to deliver great results. The Camera is eqwuipped with mere 5.1 effective pixels which is not so great. There are 25 different focusing zones in the Kodak P850. It also has a TTL-AF, hybrid external passive sensor.

The different shooting modes are Auto, Portrait, Self-portrait, Sport, Landscape, Night portrait, Night landscape, Snow, Beach, Text/document, Flower, Sunset, Candlelight, Backlight, Manner/museum, Fireworks, Party, 3 custom modes, AE Compensation +/- 2.0EV in 1/3EV steps. The ISO is 80 – 800. Out of this 800 ISO speed is available only when the camera lens is set to a resolution of 1.2 Megapixels, which means that the ISO speed is much slower. The automatic shutter speed is 1/2 – 1/1000 seconds whereas manual speed is 1/16 – 1/1000 seconds. There is a built in auto pop-up Flash. There are different modes like auto, fill, off, red-eye reduction.

The Internal memory on the KODAK P850 is 32MB. It means that for once you can get started without buying a new memory card but the storage is not so vast. There is a slot available for extending memory by inserting SD/MMC card. There is an EVF viewfinder with 237000 pixels. There is 2.5’’ TFT LCD monitor with 115000 pixels. The display results on the screen are good.

The KODAK P850 can be connected to the computer using a USB port. The other options are DC in and AV out. With AC out you can directly connect your KODAK P850 to a television using the AV cable and instead of the camera LCD the pictures can be displayed on the television screen. The KODAK P850 is powered with a 1700mAh Li-Ion rechargeable battery. This battery lasts you around 350 – 400 clicks in a charge. Thus the camera is power efficient.

The other KODAK P850 Features include PictBridge with which you can print pictures directly from the camera. The camera also records histograms. There is a red-eye removal option in the playback mode and also an image stabilizer. When you buy the KODAK P850 you get a KODAK P850 Zoom digital camera, a Li-Ion rechargeable battery with a charger, USB cord and audio/video cables, lens cap with neck strap so that you can be care free while carrying your KODAK P850, KODAK EASYSHARE SOFTWARE and instructions for getting started. The KODAK P850 cost is more than Rs.20000 but the price is not worth what the camera has to offer its users.
