Nikon D700

NIKON D700 is another professional camera launched by NIKON in July 2008. The camera was not available in the markets as it launched. It was available in mid August 2008. The NIKON D700 has a 12.1 megapixel full-frame sensor (8.45µm pixel pitch). There is also a feature for cleaning the imaging sensor. The ISO sensitivity of the camera is 200 – 6400. However in the boost mode it raises high at 25666 and also falls to 100.

The camera also supports DX lenses which have a resolution of 5.1 megapixels. The NIKON D700 in its processing speed is as fast as the Pro NIKON D3 camera. The NIKON D300 has a NIKON EXPEED image processor which is fast in processing and also consumes less power than the earlier image sensor which results into a greater battery life. The NIKON D700 has a new Kevlar / carbon fiber composite shutter with 150000 exposure durability. There is also a Multi-CAM3500FX Auto Focus sensor (51-point, 15 cross-type, more vertical coverage) in the camera which increases the focusing capability of the camera. There is an electronic viewfinder in the camera which has a coverage area of 95% and 0.72x Magnification. There is also an autofocus calibration and a scene recognition system using the AE and AF sensor.

The NIKON D700 burst rate is 5 frames per second. If an optional battery pack MB-D10 is used, the burst rate increases to 8 frames per second. The camera has a UDMA compatible single CF card slot so as to expand the memory of the camera. The NIKON D700 has a 3.0 inch LCD screen. It has a high resolution of 922,000 pixels.

 

The NIKON D700 has a capability of recording videos in a HDMI HD video output. There is a detailed display of information on the LCD screen and the LCD changes the color of the information as per the darkness. The NIKON D700 body is made of Magnesium Alloy and it also has moisture sealed buttons.

The NIKON D700 is very similar to the D3 which is a really very good camera. There is a difference in the speed. The NIKON D700 has a light body compared to the D3. The NIKON D700 dimensions are 147 mm x 123 mm x 77 mm (5.8 x 4.8 x 3.0 in). The NIKON D700 is approx 34mm (1.3 in) shorter, 13mm (0.5 in) narrower and 10mm (0.4 in) shallower than the D3. The weight of D700 is 955 gm which is light compared to D3 which is 1240 gm.

The NIKON D700 price in India is approx Rs.150000/-. The camera is a very good camera and an extremely good option for the ones who are in the professional field of photography. The NIKON D3 is priced at Rs.250000/-. It is very clear that there are not many differences between the NIKON D700 and D3 but there is surely a huge difference in the price. The NIKON D700 has outstanding features and is a very good buy.
