Nikon L15
Nikon L15 is yet another digital camera from the world of Nikon. It is a compact and value for money digital camera. The body of camera is aesthetic and facilitates easy handling. This compact and lightweight product has the dimensions of 3.6×2.4×1.2in and weighs approximately 174 gm. The TFT LCD screen is 2.6 inch wide and provides wide viewing angles while taking photographs. The LCD monitor is also coated with anti-reflective layer. The power-on Time of this camera is just about 3.5 seconds. Effectively, it takes only three and half seconds to start using Nikon L15 from an off state.
Nikon L15 has 8.0 megapixel CCD sensor, which offers excellent resolution pictures. To zoom in on the objects that are far from the user, Nikon L15 provides 3x optical zoom. Along with the optical zoom it also provides 4x digital zoom. Nikon L15 is targeted at novice consumer groups and has an easy user interface. The number of External controls are minimised as most of the work is automatically done by camera.
The Shooting Mode button offers various modes like Easy Auto, Movie, Scene, and Auto modes. In addition to the shooting modes, Nikon L15 offers different preset mode namely Landscape, Portrait, Sports, Night, Indoor, Beach, Museum, Sunset, Dusk/Dawn, Close-up mode. The size of images can be selected from 3264 × 2448 pixels, 2592 × 1944 pixels, 2048 × 1536 pixels, 1024 × 768 pixels, 640 × 480 pixels and 3264 × 1836 pixels. The GUI is available in 23 different languages.
Nikon L15 offers the optical Vibration Reduction feature that is used to remove the effects caused due to unstable hand of the user while clicking photographs. Other features like face recognition auto-focus and D-lighting are really useful to get best quality photographs. The red eye reduction feature offered by this camera removes the annoying red colour encountered on eye retina due to the excessive flash. The Shot to Shot time of Nikon L15 is about 2.19 seconds. The camera when used to record videos works at speed of 1.03 frames per seconds. It has shutter speed of 4-1/1500. For wide angle setting it has a shutter lag of 0.85 seconds. It automatically selects the sensitivity setting for the shot in the range of ISO 64 to 1000 depending upon the available light.
The camera can be connected to computer using the USB 2.0 interface for high-speed transfer of data. To play the videos on television set Nikon also provides Audio Video Cable along with this camera. The Nikon L15 uses two AA-type batteries as power source. These batteries are available almost everywhere around the globe so that the user need not worry for low battery scenario. To store images the camera offers an in-built memory of 25 MB. Memory slots are also provided to use SD/SDHC cards to increase the memory capacity of camera. A Strap AN-CP14, Dock Insert PV-15 and Nikon Software Suite CD-ROM are provided with Nikon L15.
