The Olympus 790, 7.1 mega pixel digital camera is water proof up till 3m under the surface of water, and can stand a usual knock now or then as it is shock proof upto and is also freeze proof upto – 10 degrees. This camera also features the face detection technology, a 6.4 cm LCD screen, high ISO settings, 3x optical zoom technology, Bright Capture technology and movie recording with sound. The 93.6 x 60.9 x 21.3 mm camera which weighs 136 grams [excluding batteries] is available in four different colors namely starry silver, midnight black, sun set orange and marine blue.

The Integrated Face Detection Technology detects the human figures and enables them to stand out in the photograph, the high ISO settings increases the sensitivity of the camera and when teamed up with Bright Capture Technology yields brighter photographs in even less illuminated conditions. The True Pic III image processor helps to reproduce the originals colors in the photographs. One can obtain various sizes of the photographs from the camera [3072 x 2304, 2560 x 1920, 2304 x 1728, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 1024 x 768 and 640 x 480]. There are 25 languages on the camera making it possible for almost every one to navigate the menu in their desired language. There is a card slot available making it possible to expand the storage capacity of the camera.
