Olympus DS-30
The DS-30 produced by Olympus is an excellent video recorder and one that would surely be liked by one and all. As Olympus has done so successfully over the years, they have come up with a voice recorder which has lifted the voice recording market to a new level.
The DS-30 has set a new bench mark in the field of voice recording technology with its hassle free approach and impressive set of features. The basic user interface in the DS-30 is simple and complications are kept to minimum. Voice records can be bookmarked even while they are being recorded thus helping the user keeping track of the various recordings. Due to this technique finding recordings later on is not a stressful job. To put icing on the cake, things can made even simpler and faster by using of the same technique. One can write a review on a particular recording by skipping to the wanted bookmark and not having to listen to the rest of the recording. This is extremely useful as it saves a lot of time especially when the recoding is long thus allowing a person to perform more tasks in a given amount of time.
The DS-30 has highly sensitive microphones which can pick up the noises from a considerable distance. This allows you to capture high quality voice recording without standing extremely close to the subject. The voice recorder also comes equipped with a noise canceling software which allows the user to remove unwanted noises. The DS-30 comes equipped with a 256MB internal flash memory which allows the user to record up to a maximum of 68 hours. The DS-30 can also be used to record conversations directly from phone by using the telephone handset connector. The DS-30 has a battery life of around 30 hours and uses two AAA type Standard batteries. The recorder has dimensions of 0.6 in x 4.4 in x 1.5 in (d x h x w) and weighs around 2.8 oz. These characteristics make the DS-30 easily portable and can be carried around in one’s pocket without any problem. Even while recording holding the recorder in hand dose not causes any strain on the wrists due its low weight.
The DS-30 has the ability to store files in 5 different folders and each folder has a maximum capacity of holding up to 200 files. The monochrome screen present in the DS-30 is big and can be viewed easily during extreme conditions. There are quiet a few features present in the DS-30 which might get confusing at times for the user. To overcome this, a voice guidance mode is present which helps the user navigate various options easily. The different Digital player supported digital audio standards are DSS, MP3 and WMA. The DS-30 has Digital player sample rates of 8 KHz, 22 KHz and 44.1 KHz. The Digital player response bandwidth ranges between 50 – 19000 Hz. The recorder has a remote control and a built in micro phone having a stereo operation mode.
To sum it all up the DS-30 is a very useful gadget developed by Olympus but there are a couple of places such as increased memory storage space and simpler screen information could help improving this further. But nonetheless this voice recorder with its long list of features, smart looks, great performance and an affordable price tag is surely one that would be hugely successful in the consumer market.
