The human eye can capture any picture of life and store it in the human memory card – the brain; but it cannot reproduce that picture for others to see. This is what the manmade device in the form of a camera can do. Store the pictures we like in a format that we can see them as and when we want. Actually, this device is based on the functioning of the human eye. From the first ever pinhole camera to today’s digital cameras, has been a long journey. With each new gadget, people thought that it just couldn’t get better. And there, a new device would be introduced in the market. It has been an upward swing for consumers, professionals and manufacturers.

Given here are the advantages of digital cameras, which is why their popularity is ever-growing. According to the digital cameras consumer reports, it is the following factors that will cause the digital cameras to completely replacing the analogue cameras in the next 6 to 7 years:

• The digital cameras have an ability to provide the users control over the entire process of photography.
• The experience of photographing with the digital devices is far more personal than with the analogue counterparts.
• There is flexibility in capturing pictures, without having to do too much manually. For instance, the zoom functions has the photographer stand in one place and capture the picture in accordance to the need. However, this is limited in the analogue cameras, wherein the photographer and subject were required to keep shifting to get the right zoom effect.
• There are various means of storing pictures, which includes the computer, video compact discs, pen drives, prints, floppy discs, etc. This does not cause any generation loss in the quality of the pictures over a period of time
• Multiple reproductions of a photograph can be made at any given point of time, using a digital printer. One does not have wait for an entire roll to get over to get a particular picture printed and circulated.
• The quality of output is more superior to those rendered by the analogue cameras
• Most digital cameras have a screen that helps them control the quality of the picture or recording.
• The cameras have CCD and CMOS sensors. These help the lens adapt to different situations or environments, thereby providing high-resolution output.
• Since the camera can rapidly alter the ISO sensitivity a high standard of output can be maintained at all times, contributing to consistency in output quality
• The small digital cameras are easy to carry around, unlike the bulky older camera devices, which made carrying a camera on outings a deterrent.
• According to the experts the digital photographs remain fade-proof for up to 200 years.
• Considering the diversity in the consumers there is a wide range of cameras, where pricing is concerned. There are the cheap digital cameras, which contain most of the features that any high-end camera would have, however, the picture resolution capacity is lower. But then, for day-to-day general use they are a good option.
